No exhibition is complete without a still life. Vanitas, the Latin term for vanity, hints at the need for human humility in the grand scheme of nature. Thus, Vanitas became a common title for still lifes in the classical tradition. Part II of this diptych shows the right side of an exotic planet that is slowly starting to decompose. A dying planet, a rupture exposing its core, emitting beams of energy in a final struggle.
Acrylics, gold leaf, aerosol, and pigments on wood-stretched cotton canvas. Triple varnish and luxury gloss coat finish.
